Overview

The programme at a glance

Every Turkish route is an investment the applicant keeps; there is no donation option. The best known is buying property worth at least USD 400,000 and keeping it for three years; six others use deposits, bonds, funds, pensions, fixed capital or jobs.

No official body publishes a processing time, and there is no licensed-agent system: you apply in person or through a proxy holding a special power of attorney.

Benefits

What it offers, and what to weigh

Advantages

  • The money stays an asset you own, and can be sold after three years.
  • An identity card, driving licence and tax number are all available to new citizens.
  • Türkiye is a US treaty country for the E-2 investor visa.

Worth knowing

  • No official processing time is published.
  • Visas are needed for Schengen and UK visits.
  • Parents cannot be included.

Travel and the passport

A Turkish passport needs a visa for the Schengen area and for the UK. It opens one door the Caribbean passports mostly do not: Türkiye has been a US treaty country for the E-2 investor visa since 1990.

Eligibility

Who can apply

There is no list of barred nationalities for citizenship. Property is different: foreigners may buy only if they are nationals of countries the President designates. The population directorate says nationals of 183 countries may buy without a reciprocity condition, and that Syrian nationals cannot use the property route. Since December 2023 bare land no longer qualifies.

No nationality is named as barred on the official page, checked 4 October 2026.

Family

Who can be included

Spouse and minor or dependent children; not parents

The investor's foreign spouse and minor or dependent children can acquire citizenship alongside; parents and siblings cannot. The law does not define “dependent” for adult children.

Process

How the application runs

The order matters. The investment is made and certified first, the investor then obtains a short-term residence permit, and only then is the citizenship file opened. Files go to the provincial population directorate or a Turkish mission abroad.

  1. The investment is made and a compliance certificate obtained.

  2. The investor obtains a short-term residence permit.

  3. The citizenship file is opened at the provincial population directorate, in person or by proxy.

  4. The decision is made by the interior ministry; no processing time is published.

UAE residents: print the document checklist before your consultation.

Applying from the UAE

The interior ministry's guidance sets the investor route inside Türkiye: a compliance certificate, a residence permit and in-person attendance. The consular portal lists exceptional citizenship applications at missions, and the consulate general in Dubai runs a citizenship line, but no official page says a UAE mission will take an investor's file. Our reading: plan on at least one trip to Türkiye.

Updates

What's changed

  • 2026 fixed fees in the Harçlar Kanunu tariffs (incl. residence permit harç) raised 18.95% from 1 January 2026
  • 2026 residence permit card fee set at 964 TRY (from 1 January 2026)
  • No amendment to Regulation Art. 20 in 2025-2026 found; the consolidated text (checked 2026-10-04) shows the latest Art. 20 amendment as Presidential Decision 7938, RG 12/12/2023 No. 32397
  • Law 7566 (4/12/2025) changed the title-deed fee base, from 1/1/2026, to the declared transfer value, which may not be below the property tax value

Questions people ask

Can I apply for Turkish citizenship from Dubai?

The interior ministry's guidance runs the investor route through a residence permit and offices in Türkiye, where you attend in person. The foreign ministry lists exceptional citizenship applications at missions, and the consulate in Dubai has a citizenship line, but no official page says the UAE missions accept an investor's file.

How long must I keep the property?

Three years: a no-sale annotation is placed on the title deed. Deposits, bonds, fund units and pension contributions must also be kept for three years.

Can my parents get Turkish citizenship with me?

No. Only the investor's foreign spouse and minor or dependent children are covered.
